Previously, the NFL only played on Christmas when it fell on one of the traditional days for NFL games — Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The 2023 Christmas games were three of the 19 most-watched programs on TV last year, according to Nielsen. In March 2023, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told the media that short-week games do not lead to more injuries. On the other hand, CBS aired 107 games in 2023, but only six were national TV games.

Law enforcement and utility companies, though, say they're working to resolve the open cases and prevent future attacks. Members of accelerationist groups have been charged with several plots in recent years to attack critical infrastructure. "The critical infrastructure element has become one of the core components of neo-fascist accelerationist movements in the US. "They don't really care who is doing the violence, who's doing the critical infrastructure attacks, Lewis said.

In D.C., Oath Keepers provided security for VIP’s and Rhodes gave a speech to the crowd calling on Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act to remain in power. The Oath Keepers certainly achieved the former, but the latter is a different story.
